Dr. Abdelaziz Belal is leading a major institutional partnership
that supports Egypt’s Vision 2030 in localizing knowledge and technology, and
strengthening the link between scientific research and the needs of the state.
The National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences has
signed a cooperation protocol with "Space Ten for Satellites, Space
Engineering and Sciences, Training, and Engineering Consultancy".
Under the patronage of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher
Education and Scientific Research, the National Authority for Remote Sensing
and Space Sciences signed a cooperation protocol with Space Ten for Training
and Engineering Consultancy, to enhance joint cooperation between the two
parties.
The protocol was signed by Dr. Abdelaziz Belal, Acting President of
the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences, and Dr. Engineer
Ahmed Farag, CEO of Space Ten for Training and Engineering Consultancy.
Dr. Abdelaziz Belal affirmed that the Authority possesses the
scientific, technical, and technological capabilities, advanced research
infrastructure, and specialized human resources that qualify it to support
various sectors of the state. This is achieved through the use of remote
sensing technologies, space sciences, geographic information systems,
artificial intelligence, big data analytics, and the Internet of Things in
areas such as urban planning, natural resource management, mineral resource
development and management, sustainable agricultural development, smart
agriculture applications, environmental protection, climate change monitoring,
risk and disaster management, national security support, rationalizing the use
of natural resources, energy, and water, and supporting decision-makers with
accurate data and information.
He also pointed out that this cooperation will contribute to
implementing training programs, capacity building, and skills development for
human resources, researchers, and students. It will also support entrepreneurs
and startups, link scientific research with practical applications and labor
market needs, and raise community and institutional awareness through
organizing seminars, workshops, and joint scientific and applied conferences,
as well as promoting research, technological, and innovative ideas and
initiatives.
For his part, Dr. Engineer Ahmed Farag stated that the company
specializes in space science and technology, remote sensing and its
applications, satellite image and data analysis, AI applications related to
space data, as well as communication systems and related technologies, the
Internet of Things, and smart applications. The company also provides training
courses in satellite systems and space applications in remote sensing and
communications, in addition to offering engineering and technological solutions
and consultancy in satellite design and implementation, and remote sensing
applications.
The protocol aims to enhance scientific, research, and applied
cooperation in implementing research projects and applied studies using
artificial intelligence technologies, remote sensing, geographic information
systems, and other advanced related technologies, in a way that supports
achieving sustainable development goals.
The protocol also includes the implementation of research and
applied projects in remote sensing and GIS fields, the development and
application of artificial intelligence technologies and big data analytics
related to geographic and space data, analysis and processing of satellite
images and data, extraction of decision-support indicators, and preparation of
technical and consultancy studies related to spatial planning and natural
resource management.
It further includes developing Internet of Things solutions and
smart applications related to spatial monitoring and observation, implementing
training and capacity-building programs, knowledge transfer in the mentioned
fields, preparing an annual work plan including proposed projects and
activities, and coordinating participation in relevant regional and
international programs and initiatives.
The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Dalia El-Feki, Acting Head of the Structures, Thermal Control, and Space Environment Department at the Authority; Dr. Mona Younes, Head of the Scientific Training and Continuing Studies Division; and Engineer Hossam Mahmoud representing the company.
