The National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences participates in the International Conference on Scientific Research and Education Networks in Tunisia

Dr. Islam Abu Al-Magd stresses the importance of the role of the space industry in the Renaissance of the Arab region.

Dr. Islam Abu Al-Magd: The importance of satellite data in providing community solutions and valuable information to decision makers.

Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, stressed the importance of cooperation with various bodies and institutions, and the interest in cooperation in the scientific, research and technological fields with local, regional and international institutions, in a way that contributes to achieving the maximum possible, and for the benefit of society and the national economy.

Dr. Islam Abu Al-Magd, Chairman of the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences, participated in the International Conference on Scientific Research and Education Networks eAGE24 in Tunisia, which was held from December 11 to 13, with the attendance of more than 250 participants from 42 countries, most of them from Arab, African and European countries, under the slogan "Towards Enhancing Scientific and Technical Cooperation at the Global Level."

Dr. Islam Abu Al-Magd gave a lecture on the space industry and its pivotal role in the future of the Arab region and the African continent in raising the economic and social level, highlighting Egypt's leading role in this sector, through participation and leadership in developing policies and strategies, hosting the African Space Agency, as well as hosting several meetings that promote partnerships between Arab and African countries.

 

The chairman of the Authority stressed the importance of satellite data in providing community solutions and valuable information for decision makers to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, noting that the space economy would grow dramatically in the coming period, expected to reach $1.8 trillion dollars by 2030, especially in the data, information and communications sectors.

Dr. Abu Al-Magd called for strengthening partnerships between Arab countries in order to benefit from available resources and expertise, and exchange knowledge and capabilities, explaining that these partnerships will contribute to improving the social and economic situation, and providing innovative solutions to confront common challenges, such as oil pollution and climate change.

At the conclusion of his participation, the President of the Authority presented some proposals to participating delegations, including: support for research and development; encourage industry; support for private companies; and enhance the participation of women in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
