Objective: Introduce participants to remote sensing concepts
and provide practical skills in analyzing satellite imagery using ENVI or ERDAS
IMAGINE.
Duration: 5 sessions, 3 hours each.
Target audience: Beginners in remote sensing (students, researchers,
professionals in environmental sciences, urban planning, and agriculture).
• Introduction to remote sensing
• Sources of free remote sensing data
• Types of remote sensing: active vs. passive
• Basics of satellite imagery
• Overview of satellite systems and sensors
• Understanding resolution types: spatial, spectral,
temporal
• Introduction to ENVI and ERDAS IMAGINE interfaces
• Installation and setup
• Radiometric calibration and geometric correction
• Image enhancement techniques
• Data transformations and analysis: spatial filters, PCA,
MNF, resolution merge
• Practical session: analyzing a satellite image using
ENVI/ERDAS
• Interpreting results and preparing a project report
• Understand the principles of remote sensing and satellite
imagery.
• Use ENVI or ERDAS IMAGINE for image processing and
analysis.
• Conduct basic analyses and effectively interpret remote sensing data.
