Professional Diploma in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems

This cooperation is a joint diploma between NARSS, and Ain Shams University(http://www.asu.edu.eg/).

The overall objectives of Diploma

The Diploma Program of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems aims to:

1.             Preparing qualified candidates to cope with the development of modern technologies of remote sensing and GIS through an advanced scientific curriculum that combines both the theoretical and applied aspects according to the actual needs of the regional labor market.

2.           Preparing a qualified graduate to provide technical and informational support to the decision-makers and contribute in solving the problems of the society inside and outside the Arab Republic of Egypt in order to assess them and propose proposals for their development.

3.           Contribute in using the remote sensing techniques and geographic information systems and their applications for development within and outside the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The program has the following specialized objectives

It is certain that by the end of the diploma, the holders of this diploma will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  1. Understand the basic principles and concepts of the techniques of remote sensing and GIS and the related techniques.
  2. Identify the scientific and technical means and tools used in the analysis of space and air vision.
  3. The ability to analyze and interpret spatial and descriptive data while collecting, storing, analyzing and presenting data to decision makers through remote sensing techniques and GIS.
  4. Acquiring scientific capabilities and technical skills required to use, develop and manage GIS in different fields.
  5. Develop the suitable methods of using remote sensing and GIS to study and analyze the problems encountered during professional practice in multiple areas.
  6. Use the remote sensing techniques to monitor natural changes and human activities on the surface of the globe.
  7. Identification of the techniques of aerospace imaging and data processing.
  8. Acquire the necessary skills to deal with multi-sensor satellites and accuracy and how to use them and apply them in different fields.
  9. Mastering the programming languages related to GIS programs
  10. Apply and evaluate the methods and models related to geographical indications
  11. Knowledge of high-capacity sensing techniques and geographic information systems and their applications, how to use them and analyze their data in different fields.
  12. Statistical analysis of spatial (geo-statistical)
  13. Acquiring project management and follow-up skills and teamwork skills.
  14. Acquisition of presentation skills for GIS applications and remote sensing.
  15. Mastering the practical application of GIS and remote sensing data through the implementation of the graduation project.
